Fantastic Friends Recordings presents Rover EP by David Labeij, featuring two originals and remixes from label co-founders Mandarin and Nicolas Duvoisin.
A longtime name in the Dutch underground, David Labeij has been active since the early 2000s, both solo and through projects such as Polder and MFD. His productions have always carried a distinctive mix of house and minimal, with deeper and jazzy elements running through his sound.
On Rover EP, “Rover” and “Take Em Both” keep that signature intact: tight arrangements, a strong sense of swing and enough musical detail to reward repeated plays.
Mandarin takes Rover into his Classic Remix, built as a future house classic around the essential ingredients of underground house — simple, effective and made to stay in the box. Nicolas Duvoisin goes the other way with Take Em Both, adding a floating vocal and a more reduced approach for the after-hours.
